Resumo

Composite recycling based on pyrolysis is usually only focused on the recovery of fibres without plastic matrix valorisation. This work presents the application of the authors’ patented process towards H2 rich gas generation to two end-of-life epoxy based composite waste and the results are compared to only-pyrolysis experiments. Main results show: (1) gas yield increase in detriment of the collected liquid phase, (2) H2 generation close to 50 vol.%, and (3) close to 90 vol.% jointly with CO and CH4. Although halogens in halide form need to be eliminated from gases, the patented process has potential to enhance pyrolysis based recycling plants’ profitability.
