Mathematics is an appropriate language for solving problems and creating models, whether they are models to the real world or abstracts models.With the aim that these models can be read uniquely, precision in definitions and nomenclature is required.With this in mind, a question arises about the symbol used for the square root, and of its complementary extension, that is, square root for complex numbers.The didactic objective in this text is to open spaces for reflection over the possibility of using a single symbol to represent square root in R and square root in C, in order to avoid prone contradictions.
