ResumoWine tourism has been recognized as a tourism product that promotes the sustainability of inland destinations where tourism and agriculture leverage the local economy and contribute to the appreciation and recognition of endogenous products. Wine tourism, being a segment of tourism that motivates demand, includes various activities focused on the process of production and tasting of wines, associated with local culture, the living of traditions, and gastronomic experience. The aim of this article is to understand which characteristics of wine tourism contribute to the enhancement and recognition of the Vinho Verde region, particularly with regard to the analysis of all the practices and the impact of this activity in the sub-region of Basto, specifically in the municipality of Celorico de Basto. In this perspective, there is a growing dynamization of wine tourism activities, although there are some gaps regarding the development of wine tourism in this region, especially poor tourist signposting and scarce accessibility to natural areas and other tourist attractions, the lack of qualified human resources, and the incipient promotion by the political entities. Added to this is the lack of dynamism on the part of political entities in the promotion and development of wine tourism activities that foster the sustainability of wine tourism in this region.
