ResumoCharacterized by no moving parts at low temperature and high reliability, Joule-Thomson (JT) cryocooler working at liquid helium temperature has been widely used in space exploration. The actual performance of its driving compressor directly affects the optimization results of the JT cryocooler. In this paper, the actual performance of a Embraco oil-free linear compressor, WMD7H, is studied based on a compressor experimental setup. By adjusting the input voltage and frequency of the compressor, the optimized input electric power and exergy efficiency are obtained. Based on the experimental and analytical results, the effects of actual performance of the Embraco linear compressor on the optimal parameters of a JT cryocooler are analyzed.
