The main goal of this article is to comprehend TikTok’s influence on the music industry. The attention lays on how the audiovisual language utilized on the platform causes impact on the Billboard music charts. To achieve such a goal, the following objectives were used as reference: explain what TikTok is; comprehend how TikTok took aspects from music videos to build its language ; analyze how TikTok causes impact on the music charts. The study was based on the analyzes of TikTok’s 2021 Top Tracks (Global) and Billboard’s 2021 Global 200 Year-end Chart. Four songs were found in both charts and analyzed case by case in search of understanding the audiovisual language and marketing strategies used on its promotion. As a result, it was stated that TikTok causes a direct impact in the Billboard charts, conferring greater success and better chart positions to songs that gain relevance on theplatform.
