ResumoAbstract Cost-effectiveness analysis (CEA) is one form of full economic evaluation where both the costs and consequences of health programmes or treatments are examined. Therefore, all the points discussed in Chapter 4 on cost analysis apply here also. This chapter introduces some additional issues that need to be confronted when undertaking a CEA; in addition to the general introduction, it contains a study design exercise in Section 5.2, followed by a critical appraisal exercise in Section 5.3.
