ResumoAbstract In Michael Almereyda’s 2000 film of Hamlet, the ‘To be or not to be’ soliloquy takes place as Ethan Hawke’s Hamlet is walking through a video store. He is surrounded by generically ordered shelves labelled ‘action’, a stingingly ironic contrast to the state of his mind.
