Resumo

Significance The acquisition of 15 new aircraft -- orders confirmed in June -- will modernise the state-owned airline and enhance its offering, enabling it to fly more passengers further. However, Air Algerie finds itself in a challenging market as regional rivals seek to capitalise on a post-pandemic boom in tourism by improving their transportation and tourism sectors. Impacts Any further escalation in tensions between Algeria and Morocco could temper tourism flows to the region. Rabat will strongly push back against Algerian attempts to cut into its airline market share. Algeria could capitalise on close political ties with Tunisia to encourage more bilateral tourism flows.
