Resumo

A field experiment was conducted with soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.1-wheat (Trticum aestivum L. emend. Fiori. & Paol.) cropping system for 3 consecutive years during 1999-2000 to 2001-2002 in clay-loam soils of Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, with the objective to maximize the productivity and profitability of system. Application of 125% recommended dose of fertilizers to both crops significantly increased the grain yields of crop compo- nents and it was remunerative also without deterioration of soil properties. Application of 10 tonnes FYMIha to soybean along with different fertilizer doses increased the grain yields of both crops, besides build-up in organic carbon and K contents in soil. Sowing of 125% recommended seed rate of wheat also helped to incease the pro- ductivity, net monetary returns and benefit : cost ratio of entire soybean-wheat system.
