Deceptive Repairs to Israhel van Meckenem Prints in the Fitzwilliam Museum

Some historical repairs to Israhel van Meckenem prints in the Fitzwilliam Museum have only recently been rediscovered and are particularly interesting as they occur in two previously independent collections. The known history of their conservation and remounting is described and comparisons are made with repairs to Meckenem prints, also recently discovered, in the collection of the Staatliche Graphische Sammlung Munich. While it has not been possible to suggest a restorer for the Fitzwilliam prints, it is to be hoped that in describing this work, further examples might come to light.
