Resumo

The present work seeks to analyze the differences and similarities between the short story Babette's feast, by Karen Blixen, and its film adaptation, directed by Gabriel Axel.The tale may be a criticism of the religious environment that prevailed in Danish houses in the late 19th century, but the film took another path.Axel valued worldly pleasures to contrast with religious austerity and to show the reaction of members of a congregation to a French banquet.To elucidate the discussion were use the concepts of theorists such as
