This article analyses a novel in which we can identify an incorporation of social phenomena and gender roles from the perspective of witches: The witch by Marie NDiaye.Fictionalizing the effects of capitalism in the twentieth century, the uncanny narrative illustrates the experiences of the female characters according to their social context.We intend to investigate the textual strategies employed in the configuration of the uncanny, peculiar to marvellous realism, as well as the composition of the female ficctional characters.
