ResumoPurpose: Translucent solar cells allow light to pass through and enable bifacial power generation. In particular, when translucent solar cells are applied to vertical louvers, the power generation effect can be expected to be excellent. This study analyzed whether a daylight environment could be created when translucent solar cell vertical louvers were applied to office space units. In addition, this study was conducted to examine the power generation performance by applying the bifacial power generation characteristics of the translucent solar cell louver. Method: It targets office space units facing south, east, or west. Analysis was performed based on changes in the angles of the louvers and the Visible Light Transmittance (VLT) of the translucent solar cells applied to the louvers. Daylighting performance was evaluated using the criteria of LEED v4.1 using the Useful Daylight Illuminance (UDI) concept. In addition, surface solar radiation analysis was performed on both sides of the louver to examine the power generation performance of the translucent solar cell. Simulations based on Radiance and EnergyPlus engines were performed with Rhino Grasshopper Ladybug & Honeybee plug-ins. Result: The application of translucent solar cell louvers in office space was found to have excellent usability in the following order: south, west, and east facings. Additionally, this study provides an information table and optimal plan for UDI and power generation performance according to the angle and VLT changes of the translucent solar cell louvers.
