Resumo

This issue of KN-Journal of Cartography and Geographic Information marks the start of its 74th year. Thanks to the work of many authors and many very constructive reviewers, you can expect a comprehensive and varied issue from the broad range of topics in cartography and geoinformation science in the scientific articles and also in the articles in the information and practical sections. In their article, Alexander Dunkel, Dirk Burghardt and Madalina Gugulica bring together generative AI with open source diffusion models. They focus on developed methods that support the generalization and reduction of the diverse contexts in social media.Jochen Schiewe is dedicated to data classification and visualization in the context of choropleth maps.A new measure is presented that can be used to control a new classification approach.Jakub Woźniak, Wojciech Rymarkiewicz, Dawid Łyszczasz and Tymoteusz Horbiński work at the interface between cartography and computer games. They investigate the effectiveness of the information conveyed by symbols in the game "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt".Thomas Kersten, Leon Stößel and Maren Lindstaedt use photogrammetric methods to digitize and georeference a historical map of the bailiwick of Neuland from the years 1780 to 1790.For the georeferencing, average residuals of 2.5 m were achieved at the ground control points.Alexander Klaus and Wilfried Hagg present a new semiautomatic approach for digital rock and relief mapping. Its reproducibility offers new methodological applications, e.g., for the creation of large map series.
