Resumo

Significance The latest protests coincide with the Donald Tusk government’s first 100 days and scrutiny of his performance as prime minister. Most polls indicate continuing support for the Civic Coalition (KO)-led coalition. Maintaining this support and coalition unity before local and regional elections in April is guiding policy towards the protesters. Impacts The European Commission is supporting Tusk with policy changes that meet some of the protesters’ key demands. Tusk’s policy to limit further or even ban agricultural imports and transit from Ukraine could damage Polish-Ukrainian economic relations. The push to dismantle important parts of the Green Deal will contribute to the EU’s dwindling political will to tackle climate change.
