BACKGROUND: The study analyzes warm up as a prevention tool of skeletal muscle injuries according to the Intention for Warmup among Children and Adolescents Scale (IWCAS) into the Turkish language and to test its validity and reliability in teenagers practicing sport in Türkiye.METHODS: After obtaining the approval, the scale was translated into Turkish and then it was translated into English back. The Turkish Scale Version was accepted, and the content validity was examined (N.=10). The I-CVI values were between 0.800-1.000, and the S-CVI value was 0.955. Individuals between 12-17 years of age (N.=136) were included in the pilot study. IWCAS-Tr and the Sports Injury Prevention Awareness Scale (SIPAS) were applied.RESULTS: The Cronbach's alpha value was found to be 0.932. The item-total correlation coefficient distribution in the scale was in the range of 0.618-0.841. Item Discrimination Strength Index values were positive. The difference between the independent groups in the lower and the upper 27% split according to the scale total score was significant for each item and scale total score (P<0.001). The scale has a Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin value of 0.909, Bartlett's Test of Sphericity Approx. The chi-square value was found to be 1071.976 (P<0.001). Anti-image Correlation values were between 0.813-0.960. The scale has a one-component structure with an eigenvalue of 6.689 and a variance of 60.811%. A moderate positive linear relationship was found between IWCAS-Tr and the SIPAS (P<0.001).CONCLUSIONS: IWCAS-Tr was adapted into Turkish, and its validity and reliability were revealed.
