O presente artigo busca analisar a importância da leitura para a transformação sociocultural de crianças pertencentes a religiões de afro-brasileiras, a partir de uma abordagem afrocentrada. Para a realização da pesquisa, foi realizada uma etnografia em um terreiro de candomblé, nação Ketu, localizado no estado do Rio de Janeiro. A literatura afrocentrada para crianças é uma ferramenta poderosa para promover a diversidade, a inclusão e a compreensão mútua. Ela capacita as crianças a abraçarem sua herança cultural, a questionarem a injustiça e a celebrarem a riqueza da diversidade humana. Portanto, é fundamental que pais, educadores e bibliotecários incentivem a leitura de livros que representem e celebrem a cultura africana e afrodescendente. Palavras-chave: Afrocenticidade. Orixás. ABSTRACT This article aims to analyze the importance of reading for the sociocultural transformation of children belonging to Afro-Brazilian religions from an Afrocentric approach. To conduct the research, an ethnography was carried out in a Candomblé yard, Ketu nation, located in the state of Rio de Janeiro. Afrocentric literature for children serves as a powerful tool to promote diversity, inclusion, and mutual understanding. It empowers children to embrace their cultural heritage, question injustice, and celebrate the richness of human diversity. Therefore, it is crucial for parents, educators, and librarians to encourage reading books that represent and celebrate African and Afro-descendant culture. Keywords: Afrocentricity, Orishas.
