Resumo

A contribution to the analysis of the use of agrarian soil, with emphasis on an area of the western plateau of the State of São Paulo, Brazil, where the homogeneity of the scenery is the most significant characteristic. The main interest was centered on the analysis of data concerning the most important activities of soil use, specifically in the county of Presidente Venceslau. The distribution of the activities of polycultures, mixed with extensive pasture areas mainly used for live stock, was analysed. Such types of soil use, showing constant presence of gentle hills, are rsponsible for a certain monotony in the agrarian scenery.
