ResumoIn this article, the partial political trajectory of José Bernardino Batista Pereira d'Almeida is recovered. As the sole representative of the Province of Espírito Santo in the first two legislatures of the Imperial Chamber of Deputies, in 1828 he was part of the ministerial cabinet formed by Dom Pedro I at the end of 1827, with the appointment of deputies who partially opposed his government to occupy key positions. A figure of the moderate liberal camp, highly active in the Chamber until his appointment to the Ministry, he was later practically ignored in imperial political records and only recently has his name been revisited by historiography. The objective is thus to contribute to the reconstruction of his thinking, aiming to deepen understanding of the political history of that period.
