Resumo

Analysis of the insurrectional process know as “Ronco da Abelha”, which took place in northeastern Brazil in 1851/1852. In this rebellion, social and political factors were associated: opposition to the conservative Ministry by remaining groups of the “Revolução Praieira” (1848/50), and revolt of small farmers and day workers against the powerful landlords and the local public administration.
