Resumo

In this paper we present an analysis of the discourse of teachers linked to public education in the town of San Antonio and its surroundings, in Misiones (Argentina), from the perspective of social representations, in turn contextualized in the ethnographic analysis of the Portuguese-speaking community that, in part, attends schools in the region. The area is located in a border zone between Argentina and Brazil, with special demographic mobility given the population conditions of this Argentine province and its situation, in San Antonio, as a "dry border" without major impediments to transnational transit. Within this setting, different phenomena, both linguistic and social, linked to the contact between the Portuguese and Spanish languages come into play, among them the emergence and habitual use of the mixed varieties known as "portuñol" and the presence of the standard or padrão modalities of both national languages, promoted by the school.
