Resumo

This paper documents the production of knowledge about gender and sexuality in Biology teaching in Brazil, as a scientific field. It aimed to evaluate this body of text based on its bibliometric indicators in order to build the memory of a possible (in)surgent scientific field. The indicators emerged from bibliographical research, using the descriptors "gender, sexuality and biology teaching" insix databases: BDTD/IBICT/Brazil, CAPES Journal Portal, Microsoft Academic, Google Scholar, Web of Science and Scopus. Seventy-one texts were selected, from which bibliometric indicators were developed: chronology, typology, geographic region, quality andcitations, that demonstrate the emergence of a scientific field in the area of biology teaching in Brazil from the beginning of the 2000s. In this way, an alternative form of bibliometric analysis is presented to counter invisibility in the major global indexing centres, which erases the construction and development of a scientific field with quality and impact.
