Resumo

This article presents an excerpt ofthe undergraduate monographentitled From shelf to display: the role of the librarian in the preservation of museum objects, aimed at elucidating issues related to museumobjects at the Research and Documentation Centre(NUPPO), specifically focusing on the "Casa de Barro" collections authored by Abimael Soares da Fonseca. The research identifies barriers and delves into activities related to preservation and artistic records, aiming to strengthen representations marked by artisanal labour. By employing qualitative research methods, the aim is to achieve efficient results and provide alternatives for cataloguing the collection, further contributing to the healthy maintenance of the artifacts. Additionally, hygiene standards for the items are evalu-ated, aligned with the needs of the centre, as these spaces play a crucial role in preserving the origi-nality of pieces that convey recognition of popular tradition.
