Resumo

This work addresses librarian training, with emphasis on the presence of the theme “information literacy” in the curriculum. Thus, it aims to identify how information literacy is treated in higher education programmes ofLibrary Sciencein Brazil. The methodological approach is configured as quantitative-qualitative and carries out content analysis of the syllabuses of the courses that deal with the theme and the respective programmes’ teaching plans. It was identified that just over half of Library Science programmes offer mandatory or optional courses that cover information literacy, even if succinctly. Only 22% of the coursesare specifically designed to address the topic. Based on the results, the research concludes that there is a need to address information literacyin librarian’straining, considering the social demands of information education.
