This article presents a report on a dissertation developed in the Postgraduate Programmein Recordsand ArchivesManagement (PPGARQ), at the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO), which aimed to demonstrate the theoretical and methodological importance of Archival Science and theinstitutional archival services to the computerization process of Brazilian public institutions, through electronic process systems. Thus, based on a broad literature review on the principles, methods and treatments ofthe records (digital and non-digital), it wasanalysed the level of adherence of the electronic processsystem used at the Federal University of Pará (UFPA) to the Model of Archival Requirements for Computerized Archival Management Systems in Brazil. It was found that there was a high level of adherence to the Requirements Model, demonstrating the importance of Archival Science knowledge for the use of electronic processes in Brazilianpublic institutions.
