Oral rehabilitation after endodontic treatment is a subject that generates a wide discussion due to the different ways it can be performed, from a direct restoration in composite resin, to the placement of an intrarradicular pin, depending on the amount of loss of the coronal structure. From this, the different materials that will be used if there is a need to place a pin comes into debate, and it is necessary to evaluate several factors such as the amount of coronary remnant. In this review, direct and indirect retainer techniques will be discussed with the main focus on the most used ones, which are fiberglass posts. Therefore, the objective of this work is to carry out a literature review on how these materials affect the longevity, techniques and quality of restorative treatment. Considering the importance of factors such as the ferrule in the planning of each case.
