ResumoWe document for the first time diving behavior and long-term immersion (> 15 minutes) for the Neotropical whipsnake Chironius carinatus. This report is from the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Cesar department, northern Colombia, and highlights that knowledge of the habits and habitat use of this conspicuous snake remains fragmentary.
