ResumoSignificance Following recent lapses, President Yoon Suk-yeol has reshuffled his top security team. Separately, North Korea has allegedly hacked details of two South Korean spy planes. Lawmakers are proposing a new and independent intelligence agency and introducing bills to allay security concerns. Impacts The alleged leaker’s eventual trial may reveal how much damage the breach has done. Sacking someone senior would have sent a stronger signal that Yoon takes security threats seriously. The new special adviser post suggests a growing overlap of security and economics, in other words concern with securing supply chains.
