ResumoThe development of a democratic society is still a long way from today's reality, given the violence, segregation and oppression of women, making it necessary to eliminate gender inequality. As a result, studies are urgently needed to give quilombola women a voice, enabling their emancipation, empowerment and re-signification of their identity, highlighting their culture, traditions, knowledge and struggles. The aim of the study was to break down the assumptions established by the colonial, patriarchal, white world, highlighting the diversity of knowledge, which is why the methodological strategy adopted was a qualitative literature review, in order to achieve the objectives and arrive at the results. Thus, the study shows the trajectory of quilombola women towards liberation from the shackles of colonialism, through emancipation, decolonization and empowerment, establishing a rapprochement with the archetypal experience of the orishas Otim and Obá.
