В процессе оцифровки киноматериалов научно-отраслевого архива ИА РАН выделены материалы, посвященные археологическим исследованиям на территории Карачаево-Черкесской Республики. Кинофильм содержит фрагменты фильма 1960–1962 гг., касающиеся съемки раскопок на территории Нижнеархызского городища и разведок на Кяфарском городище. Присутствуют многочисленные панорамные виды Нижнеархызского городища до реставрационных работ на храмах, на съемке видны остатки фресок, которые на сегодняшний день не сохранились. Описанные кинодокументы дополняют сведения о послевоенном периоде истории археологического изучения Карачаево-Черкесской Республики, материалы и достижения которого весьма скупо освещены в публикациях и архивных материалах. In the course of digitalization of the film documents kept in the Scientific Archive of the Institute of Archaeology, RAS, footage documenting archaeological excavations in the Karachay-Cherkess Republic was found. The newsreel stories include a film of 1960‒1962 about excavations at the Nizhniy Arkhyz settlement and archaeological reconnaissance at the Kyafar hillfort. The film has numerous panoramic views of the Nizhny Arkhyz hillfort before restoration works in churches; it also documents remains of the frescoes that are now gone. This newsreel footage complements the information on the postwar period in the history of Karachay-Cherkess Republic archaeological excavations; achievements of these excavations have been poorly documented in publications and archival materials.
