One of the ways of observing celestial stars aims to orientate in space, based on the cardinal points. In fieldwork in Geology, Geography, Cartography and related sciences, this observation helps to determine the directions and directions of the segments N-S (North/South) and L-W (East/West), through the visualization of the setting or rising of the Sun. This teaching, including illustration, is widely disseminated in textbooks from Elementary School, through High School and extending into Higher Education in the courses mentioned above.
