Resumo

This paper examines the film The Invisible Man (2020), directed and written by Leigh Whannell, emphasizing its metaphors regarding abusive relationships and gaslighting. Additionally, it explores how the narrative reflects contemporary social and gender issues. The audiovisual plot is compared to typical horror fiction narrative tropes, such as the extrapolating scientist and the intricate discovery, in order to highlight how the female protagonist becomes a victim of a form of violence that eludes proof, thereby metaphorizing the invisibility of abusive male aggression in a patriarchal society.
