O artigo trata a questão dos lugares de memória difíceis, a partir da análise de como a imprensa tratou a demolição do Presídio Tiradentes. As fontes nos evidenciam que o assunto tanto da preservação do edifício quanto do posterior tombamento do arco não tiveram tanto debate no ambiente social inserido, nos permitindo refletir o quanto as memórias traumáticas estão dentro de uma tênue linha entre o lembrar e o esquecer.Palavras-chave: Presídio Tiradentes; Patrimônio; Imprensa; Memória; Lugares de memória. AbstractThe article deals with the issue of difficult places of memory, from the analysis of how the press dealt with the demolition of the Presídio Tiradentes. The sources show us that the subject of both the preservation of the building and the subsequent listing of the arch were not overly debated in the inserted social environment, allowing us to reflect how, when it comes to traumatic memories, there is a fine line between remembering and forgetting.Keywords: Presídio Tiradentes; Heritage; Press; Memory; Places of memory.
