ResumoThe article aims to identify and expose the similarities between the approach to chaos in two productions of Ibero-American literature. Therefore, it compares chapter 1 of A Jangada de Pedra, by José Saramago, with Preliminares and Antecedentes from chapter 1 of A luta, in Euclides da Cunha's Os sertões. It is mainly based on Abed's (2022) analysis. It shows that the works embrace the notion of chaos as a necessity for the subsequent creation of a new order.
