History of Education Research in Brazil

This text deals with the construction of the urban landscape in Colina do Ipiranga, São Paulo city, birthplace of the Brazilian nation; dealing in a particular way with one of its elements, avenida d. Pedro I, examining the disputes and the definition of its layout. The construction of the memorial complex for the independence of Brazil began in 1885, with the monumental building, and was completed with the works carried out in commemoration of the Centenary of Independence: the garden, the sculptural monument, and the avenue.
