Resumo

This paper focuses on the literary and audiovisual analysis of the episodes “Francisco de Quevedo” (1976) and “Lope de Vega” (1984), both belonging to the television series Paisaje con figuras (1976-1977 and 1984-1985), which was written and presented by the versatile Andalusian writer Antonio Gala and was broadcast, for two seasons, on Radiotelevisión Española. Thus, first, a brief summary regarding the series and its scope is offered, and some impressions from Gala himself and critics regarding this project, and then the treatment of Quevedo’s poetic quotations is analyzed in the case of “Francisco de Quevedo,” and the treatment of Lope’s women in the case of “Lope de Vega.” In this way, the aim is to prove how a contemporary author builds, from a modern artistic medium, a surprising bridge with the literature of the Golden Age, to resize and reinterpret the biographies and images of two of the great writers of the Spanish Baroque.
