Academic Research in Diverse Fields

The Laboratório Nacional de Engenharia Civil (LNEC), institute of public utility, has been continuously developing an extensive plan of research and scientific dissemination activities, as well as specialized technical support, in the field of engineering in Portugal for over seven decades. The main objective of this study is to identify and characterize, from a systemic and integrated information perspective, the organic and functional structures that form its object of analysis. Once the organic-functional structure has been studied and the relationships between the units and the functions they performed have been identified, based on the organizational charts elaborated, the aim is to describe the entity and its production contexts, providing it the necessary intelligibility for the construction of a future, reasoned classification proposal that intellectually organizes and represents the information.
