ResumoPreviewHypersensitivity reactions are a major limiting factor to the widespread use of beta-lactam antibiotics, such as penicillins and cephalosporins. Selection of an alternative drug for penicillin-allergic patients can be challenging because of the possibility of cross-reactivity. In this article, Dr Sazon discusses the risks of cross-reactions and presents evidence for a safe alternative antibiotic for management of gram-negative infections in penicillin-allergic patients.
