ResumoIn accordance with predictions made in previous studies of conglomerate crystallization of coordination compounds, racemic solutions of [cis-Co(en)2(NO2)2]Br crystallize as a conglomerate (homochiral crystals, space group P21), whereas racemic solutions of [cis-α-Co(triethylenetetramine)(NO2)2](NO3)·13H2O crystallize as a racemate (heterochiral crystals, space group P21c). Intra- and intermolecular hydrogen-bonded interactions are shown to control the crystallization pathway these substances select, and the counter anion used is shown to play a role in such selection.
