ResumoThis article describes efforts that took place in the rehabilitation of the Schuylkill River Bridge in Philadelphia. As the bridge is on the main line for CSX Transportation and carries heavy volumes of traffic, the timing of the work outages was critical. Closing down the bridge also impacted river traffic. The article gives an overview of the replacement and rehabilitation efforts, which included removing and replacing track steel ties, decking, mechanical and hydraulic components, and signal and electrical components.
