Resumo

This article describes the active steps many railroads are taking to ensure environmentally protection and enhancement. The author argues that the railroad industry has been far more committed to environmental stewardship than either the airline or automobile industry, whose products pollute much more than railroads. Railroads previewed include Burlington Northern and Santa Fe, Canadian National, Canadian Pacific Railway, CSX Transportation, Norfolk Southern, and Union Pacific.
