ResumoThe current treatment results for lung cancer clearly call for improved therapy and also for careful selection of patients for the treatment options from which they are most likely to benefit. A detailed knowledge of prognostic factors, meaning variables with a well established relation to the prognosis, is important for achieving these goals. Any clinical trial must therefore include an assessment of the possible influence of such prognostic factors on the therapeutic result.
