ResumoBruchiassociated with Daim seeds in Bahia, BrazilAn abridged version of topics on palm seed bruchids researche carried out in Bahia, Brazil, is presentd, as an introduction to a more extensive papar in preparation.Species of Dalns investigated for bruchid attack on their seeda, geocjraphic distributjort, hints on the behavior of these beetles, including suggestions to search for sexual pheromones, and a workable hvpothesis on enzymatic action by the larvae to penetrate the bony endocarp and to make the exit channel for the emergence of the adult, are presented and discussed.At present the bruchid author's coilections is composed of 2.582 pinned specimens of both saxes of the genera Cv 1 7p;, P-.. and 200 viela containing larvae and puoae oreserved in fluid, and a carpothcc rerresented by hundreds of 'cocos" or nuts showing the exit hole of the adults, and damaqe dona by the larvae cm the kernel.
