Alice Faye's sweet demeanour yet sultry glances and velvet voice were here signature. Her haunting rendition of You'll Never Know has never been surpassed. Fans adored her in Alexander's Ragtime Band, Rose of Washington Square, Tin Pan Alley, and Weekend in Havana. In the 1930s-40s she reigned as queen of 20th Century Fox musicals. In 1940 she was voted no.1 box office attraction, ahead of Bette Davis and Myrna Loy. Yet, at the pinnacle of her career in 1945 she stunned the film world and flabbergasted Fox mogul Darryl F. Zanuck by walking out.
