Intervención educativa sobre prevención del cáncer de mama con profesionales sanitarios del ámbito hospitalario

ResumoespanolObjetivo: mejorar los conocimientos de los profesionales sanitarios sobre prevencion y promocion de la salud relacionados con la prevencion del cancer de mama y su diagnostico precoz. Metodo: evaluacion mediante comparacion de conocimientos antes-despues de una intervencion educativa. Se llevo a cabo en el Hospital Universitario Virgen de las Nieves (HUVN), Granada, durante octubre-noviembre de 2013. La poblacion objeto de la intervencion fueron los trabajadores sanitarios de la institucion, mayores de 20 anos y de cualquier categoria profesional. Variables analizadas: edad, sexo, categoria profesional, conocimientos previos sobre factores de riesgo en el cancer de mama, sintomas, metodos deteccion e informacion relativa a la autoexploracion. Intervencion: tres talleres teorico-practicos, de dos horas de duracion y una frecuencia de uno cada 15 dias, sobre factores de riesgo, estilos de vida saludables y autoexploracion mamaria. Resultados: participaron 106 profesionales. El 45,9% tenia entre 51 y 60 anos; un 95,6% eran mujeres y el 59,5% auxiliares de Enfermeria. Tras la intervencion ha mejorado el nivel de conocimientos sobre metodos de deteccion, tecnica de autoexploracion, cuando y como realizar dicha tecnica y la localizacion mas frecuente de aparicion de cancer de mama (p Conclusiones: esta intervencion educativa mejora el nivel de conocimientos en las profesionales, lo que presumiblemente contribuira a la prevencion y/o deteccion precoz del cancer de mama en este colectivo y ampliara la educacion sanitaria ofertada a las pacientes atendidas por ellas. EnglishObjective: to improve the knowledge of healthcare professionals on health prevention and promotion associated with breast cancer prevention and early diagnosis. Method: assessment through a comparison of knowledge before and after an educational intervention. It was conducted at HUVN during October-November, 2013. The population object of the intervention were healthcare workers in the institution, over 20 years of age, and with any professional category. The variables analyzed were: age, gender, professional category, previous knowledge about risk factors for breast cancer, symptoms, detection methods, and information regarding self-examination. Intervention: three theoretical-practical workshops, with a duration of two hours, and a frequency of one every 15 days, on risk factors, healthy lifestyles, and breast self-examination. Results: 106 professionals took part. Out of these, 45.9% were between 51 and 60-years-old; 95.6% were women, and 59.5% were Nursing Assistants.
