Resumo O transporte de combustiveis e um tema recorrente em pesquisas cientificas. Com o apoio do ferramental quantitativo oferecido pelas tecnicas de simulacao por eventos discretos, disponiveis no software ARENA, a presente pesquisa desenvolveu um modelo de determinacao da capacidade da hidrovia em produzir transporte de etanol em diferentes cenarios. Avaliado o potencial de transporte de combustivel da hidrovia Tiete-Parana, verificou-se que este e limitado a 14 milhoes de metros cubicos anuais. Confrontando os custos de transporte do modal hidroviario, com o modal dutoviario, foi possivel demonstrar que o transporte de etanol pela Hidrovia Tiete-Parana apresenta viabilidade de custo e capacidade para transportar 5 milhoes de metros cubicos anuais, entretanto, e inviavel para transportar 10 milhoes de metros cubicos por falta de capacidade em acomodar comboios. Abstract The fuel transportation is a recurring theme in scientific researches. With support quantitative tooling put on the market by the simulation techniques by discrete event system, obtainable in the ARENA software, the present research developed a model to the determination of capacity to transportation ethanol waterway in a scenarios different. It was observed that the capacity is limited by 14 million of cubics meters a year. Comparing the costs of transport of waterway modal with transport through ducts, was possible show that ethanol transport by waterway Tiete-Parana presents viability of costs and capacity of transport to 5 millions of cubics meters a year. However, it is inviability to transport 10 millions of cubics meters in function a lack of capacity to accommodate convoy.
