ResumoThis article presents a profile of Spirit Airlines, a low-cost/low fare carrier that tends to rely on discretionary, leisure-oriented travelers. With a fleet of 31 aircraft and 120 daily flights, the airline serves a 16-city network from Los Angeles to San Juan, Puerto Rico. Spirit posted an operating profit of $10.6 million for the January-September 2003 time period, and had one of the highest load factors (84%) for the month of October 2003. Known for its strong reliability, ontime performance, and attentiveness to its customers, the airline has been able to stay in line with its competition while keeping its costs down.
