Northern Ireland's leading provider of public transportation, Translink, recently implemented a new attendance policy aimed at improving attendance levels and maintaining the best possible level of service. This article describes the new policy, which includes elements such as sick day limits, a return-to-work interview between the manager and employee, and a caring approach to employees with underlying medical conditions. Translink has seen an improvement in absentee rates since the new policy was implemented.
