Resumo

Horton Foote, a little-known 20th-century American playwright, has received much recent acclaim, particularly for such screenplays as The Trip to Bountiful and Tender Mercies. This study scrutinizes all available Foote work, from the early one-acts of the 1940's through the latest plays of the 1980's. The single theme of family reconciliation that runs throughout his canon is highlighted.
