Resumo

The comfort, weight and size of airline seats have been problems ever since the early days of air transport when seats were literally no more than armchairs bolted to the floor. The seat makers and the airlines have to agree on basic design minima. Lufthansa's view of the airlines' requirements and the views of the airline seat manufacturer Recaro are presented. The article begins with some thoughts on the medical considerations from an aviation safety consultant.
